From 5th to 8th October 2004 in Essen
SECURITY 2004 - The world meeting place for the sector
900 exhibitors from 39 nations are expecting visitors from 50 countries.
The international trade fair SECURITY is known as the meeting point for security experts from all over the world. Visitors from more than 50 countries are expected to visit the world’s leading trade fair for safety in the Messe Essen from 5th to 8th October 2004. For the 16th time the number one in the sector is the shop window for innovations and services for the security field. More than 900 exhibitors from more than 39 countries will be presenting their international range of products for four days on an area of 68,000 sq.m. Main features are, again, the special show “Fire Safety”, the Security-Congress taking place parallel to the exhibition with over 100 specialist lectures, and the symposium “Fire Safety and Security in Architecture” with well known speakers from the world of planning and construction.
30 years of limelight
For more than three decades the Messe Essen has been in the limelight of the international security business every two years: The SECURITY took place in Essen for the first time in 1974.105 exhibitors participated in the premiere event, which gradually developed to become the world’s leading fair for the trade.
The variety of German security associations and institutions participating reflects the level of competence the fair enjoys: 14 national organizations are on the exhibition committee and help to give the sector a strong platform with their know how.
Great international acceptance
The internationality of the exhibitors has again increased: more than a third of them (40 per cent) are from abroad. Taiwan has the largest contingent with 116 exhibitors, followed by Great Britain with more than 50 exhibitors. Joint stands will also be hosted in Essen by the USA, Italy, Russia and Korea. The People’s Republic of China, Israel, Sweden and Finland are taking part in the exhibition for the first time this year.
World wide market
The SECURITY 2004 is truly global: An important topic in industry this year is, for example, the further development of video technology. It can now contribute in various ways to recognising and evaluating specific dangers. The use of internet technology and biometric measures is also becoming more widespread. The range of technically advanced and economical solutions for warning systems with a low level of false alarms on offer at the fair has also increased.
Special show, congress, symposium
The international Security-Congress and other events round off what the fair has to offer. Apart from the special show “Fire Safety” which takes place in close collaboration with the Bundesverband der Feuerlöschgeräte und –anlagen e.V. (bvfa) (federal office of fire extinguishers and extinguishing systems) and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Leiter der Berufsfeuerwehren (AGBF) (association of professional fire services), a symposium by the Messe Essen, the Zentralverband Elektrotechnik-und Elektronikindustrie (ZVEI) (central association of electrotechnology and electronics industry) and further organisations also concentrates on the subject “Fire Safety and Security in Architecture”. Well known builders, architects and engineers will be presenting creative designs and completed projects (multi-storey office building, hotel complex, stadium), which reach high security standards and at the same time have been built in a very aesthetic manner.
The SECURITY 2004 is open from Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th October from 9 am until 6 pm, and on Friday 8th October from 9 am until 4 pm. The Home Secretary Mr. Otto Schily has become patron and will open the global fair for security and safety on 5th October 2004.
